Title IX External Review

The report for Phase One of the Husch Blackwell Title IX Review is now available. Phase One of the Title IX Review focused on assessing MSU’s Title IX compliance related to our Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct Policy, sanction and appeal process, and investigation procedures.

I am pleased to share that the Husch Blackwell review team concluded that, “Overall, MSU’s policies and procedures comply with current legal requirements and agency guidance, and in several places, reflect leading-edge policy concepts that other institutions might consider replicating in their own policies.”  The team from Husch Blackwell also noted that MSU’s policies and procedures are “among the most comprehensive and robust they have seen” and felt that MSU’s policy and procedures reflect “a strong and genuine institutional commitment to combatting sexual misconduct, creating a safe campus environment, as well as compliance with Title IX’s legal requirements.”

Additionally, the report includes benchmarking data from peer institutions as well as suggestions that will help inform our continued efforts to develop leading-edge policies, programs, and services at MSU.  This report will be a useful tool in our annual RVSM Policy review process as we work to continuously improve our policy and procedures.  Work on Phase Two of the review will begin after the first of the year with a final report issued during the spring semester.
